March Was a Fun Month to Own a Vespa

March was quite a month for Vespa events. It all started on St. Joseph's Day. After the morning at the Farmer's Market the Vespa Club visited four St. Joseph's alters. It was a beautiful day for a ride!

The Crescent City Classic was the next event. For the second year the Vespa Club has lead the 10K race, and we just about tripled the amount of scooters this year. The early morning started out with coffee and doughnuts provided by Vespa New Orleans. Once the Vespas cross the finish line the Vespa Club assisted at the water table. This is an event you will not want to miss next year.

You have not experience Easter Sunday until you have driven your Vespa in Chris Owen's Easter Parade. This fun event was the perfect fit for the Vespa Club.

ASK CHAS

Hi Chas,

I was wondering if I should bring in my Vespa ET4 in for a one year service. I have only put about 800 miles on the last service/ oil change. Is it really necessary to change the oil and filter now that it is one year old?

Thanks Chas,

Sarah

Sarah,

Synthetic motor oil provides superior lubrication for all of our scooter engines. This is why we exclusively use Selenia 5w-40.

It is true though, that this oil is a time-relative item. Oil loses its lubrication properties as it is exposed to the atmosphere and the normal contaminants that it absorbs inside the engine when using your scooter. As your motor oil is exposed to these contaminants and the atmosphere, exponentially it does not lubricate as well over time. Therefore, regardless of mileage it is necessary to change your motor oil at least every year or two thousand miles, whichever comes first.

The Service Department at Vespa New Orleans is always happy to perform a service on your scooter. Most services can be done while you wait. To schedule an appointment call us at
504-483-6776.

Thanks for writing Sarah,

Chas
