On Wednesday, July 20th 15 riders and 2 passengers gathered after work at Vespa New Orleans to take an evening ride around town. We pulled out around 6:30pm heading toward the Lakefront in search of cool breezes. Our group entered Lakeshore Dr. at West End and headed east. It was perfect timing as we got there, just as a spectacular sunset was commencing. We rode the entire Lakefront and then looped around at the base of the Seabrook Bridge and headed back west to where we had come from. Just before we hit West End we turned off at Lake Marina Dr. and drove out to the Point. There the group stopped and we stretched our legs and admired the beautiful view.
We all agreed we were getting hungry and it was decided we would head to Reginelli's on Magazine. So we headed uptown by way of Esplanade, through the French Quarter. We eventually hit Magazine which we rode almost to the River Bend. We had a delicious meal and quite a few laughs at Reginelli's. Around 10pm we called it an evening. We decided to take the long way home and headed downtown by way of St. Charles Ave., through the French Quarter and back down Esplanade. A fun evening was had by all!

On Sunday, July 31st 8 of us gathered at 9am for breakfast at the Golf Club House at Audubon Park. As we were leaving at 10am we picked up another rider and headed to Frenchman St. to pick up one more. The 10 of us set out for the Chalmette Battlefield. We headed through the Bywater to Poland Ave. and then on to St. Claude Ave. After crossing into St. Bernard Parish we took a turn on Egania St. to ride by the historic Twin
Doullut Steamboat Houses. From there we headed to the battlefield. Once there we made a stop at the Visitor's Center. After learning some historic facts we set out on our scooters to ride through the battlefield. At each marker throughout the battlefield, Bill was kind enough to serve as tour guide and tell us fascinating facts. We then took a ride
through the National Cemetery.
Our next destination was the west bank by way of the Chalmette ferry. It was perfect timing. We pull up just as the ferry was calling for final boarding. It was a quick trip across the Mississippi and then we headed upriver on River Road on the west bank of the river. Bill led the way on our scenic trip. We wound our way through the streets of Algiers Point and made a stop at the Dry Dock for some refreshments. After a leisurely afternoon we headed to the Algiers ferry and our return trip across the river. Everyone agreed we should do that more often!
