In celebration of 60 years in production, Piaggio USA, manufacturer of the world-famous Vespa scooter and pioneer of the two-wheel vehicle, has announced the debut of the new Vespa LX motor scooter. The LX (Roman numeral for 60) is the latest addition to the classic Vespa line and is designed to provide riders with the optimal performance and ease of use that have characterized Vespa as one of the world's best-known vehicles since 1946.

Set apart by its sleek, steel-body and modern design, the LX delivers both superior handling and eye-catching appeal. Vintage-style headlamps and side mirrors along with expanded storage space are among the many elements that make the LX both practical and fashionable.

The Vespa LX packs a powerful punch with its optimized engine performance and agile maneuvering capabilities. The four-stroke scooter comes equipped with both a 50cc and 150cc engine to accommodate the needs of any rider. The Vespa LX has a maximum speed of over 65 mph and like other Vespas meets California's CARB standards.

The LX also features an array of color choices that enhance its modern design and classic overtones. These selections include: Graphite Black, Excalibur Gray, Diamond White, Aurora Blue, Daring Plum and Dragon Red. Customers can further personalize their scooters with a variety of accessories, including top case, chrome kits, and leather seat.

The first LXs will arrive at Vespa New Orleans by the end of this week. Be the first one in the Gulf South to own this work of art!

	Vespisti overtake New York City

In early May Gayle and Steve traveled to New York to help launch Piaggio's newest Vespa. The highlight of their trip was a day long ride through Manhattan with local Vespisti. "It was an amazing experience" said Gayle, "riding through Manhattan on two wheels was like seeing the city for the first time. Once again a Vespa has taken me places I've never been before!"

For the third year Vespa New Orleans is sponsoring the DDD's Wednesday at the Square Concert. The concerts are from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in Lafayette Square. The Vespa booth's location has shifted a few times, but it is now located in the middle of the park. Because the first concert was rained out, an additonal concert has been scheduled for Thursday June 16th. Vespa parking is available. All scooters must be parked on the grass!

For the second year The Vespa Club will be assisting with Bike New Orleans. Bike New Orleans is a 24 mile bicycle tour of the city. Vespisti will be participating in the ride and assisting with water stations...last year was a blast! We're also invited to the party after the ride at Popp's Fountain.
